Oriole Park at Camden Yards (often just Oriole Park ) is a baseball stadium in Baltimore , Maryland , which opened in 1992. It is the home stadium of the Major League Baseball playing Baltimore Orioles . The stadium is located in close proximity to the M&T Bank Stadium , the home ground of the Baltimore NFL team, the Baltimore Ravens .

Visitors

Between 1992 and 2000, the Orioles averaged more than 40,000 viewers per game, with a total of 3.71 million people in the 1997 season . Since then, the number of visitors in the 2009 season has fallen to 1.9 million.

The current highest attendance record is 49,828, which was set on July 10, 2005 against the Boston Red Sox . The low-attendance mark was set on April 12, 2010 when only 9,129 fans saw the Orioles playing the Tampa Bay Rays . On April 29, 2015, the stadium was virtually empty after the riot in Baltimore because of Freddie Gray. Only two scouts, a scoreboard operator and the players were in the stadium and the official attendance was 0. This marks the first time in MLB history that the audience was not allowed to attend a baseball game.

Other events

On October 8, 1995, Pope John Paul II celebrated a mass in Oriole Park as part of his visit.
