The Oakland Coliseum is a stadium in the US city ​​of Oakland in the state of California . The sports facility in Alameda County offers, depending on the configuration of the various sports, from 35,067 to 64,200 seats. These also include 6,300 club seats. There are also 143 luxury boxes . The stadium is in the immediate vicinity of the Oakland Arena where the basketball team the Golden State Warriors of the NBA had played their games up of 2019.

The Coliseum opened on September 18, 1966 after around two and a half years of construction. From 1995 to 1996 the stadium was extensively renovated for 200 million US dollars . The gap in the east of the stadium was closed with a new building with 10,000 seats. By granting the naming rights , the name changed several times, between 1998 and 2004 it was called Network Associates Coliseum , until 2008 McAfee Coliseum and from September 2008 to 2011 it was again called Oakland – Alameda County Coliseum , which had been used since its opening until 1996 . Most of the time, however, it was simply referred to as the Oakland Coliseum . In April 2011, the retail company Overstock.com took over the naming rights and the name changed to Overstock.com Coliseum . In June 2011 the stadium was renamed O.co Coliseum after the marketing name of Overstock.com . From 2016 to June 2019, the venue will bear its original name again. From June 2019 to January 2020 the stadium was named RingCentral Coliseum . It serves as a baseball , American football and soccer stadium and is used by the professional teams of the Oakland Athletics ( MLB ) and the Oakland Raiders ( NFL ). The football team of the San José Earthquakes from the MLS played here from 2008 to 2009 games with great audience interest.

Despite the increase in capacity in the mid-1990s, the approximately fifty-year-old Oakland – Alameda County Coliseum is one of the smallest stadiums in Major League Baseball (MLB) as well as in the National Football League (NFL). In 2011, bleacherreport.com published a list of the five worst stages in the MLB. The O.co Coliseum was one of them. The fans of the Oakland Raiders also call their home stadium Black Hole ( German  black hole ).

In November 2018, Oakland Athletics presented plans for a new stadium. The new, privately financed home of the A's will offer around 34,000 seats and will be built at the Howard Terminal . There a 54 acre property is to be leased or bought from the Port of Oakland . The blueprints were designed by the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in Copenhagen . The Coliseum will be integrated into the construction work by redesigning it for the population and creating a sports park. The nearby Oracle Arena will be retained as an event center for culture and concerts. With the new Ballpark as the focal point, a new district with apartments, restaurants and shops is to be created. The new plans are also made possible by the move of the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas to the Allegiant Stadium, which is currently under construction . No information was given on the cost of the construction project at the Howard Terminal . The move to the new venue is planned for 2023. As early as 2005, the Athletics planned to move out of the Coliseum, but so far any plan has failed.

In March 2019, the Oakland Raiders extended their lease by one year to the end of the 2019 season. The stadium in Las Vegas should be ready for occupancy by the 2020 season. The Raiders will pay a total of 6.6 million euros for the 2019 season  . There is an option for 2020 if the new building is not yet playable due to delays. This would cost the franchise a further 9.2 million euros for the season. Without an extension, the franchise would have had to look for a venue for the transition period. The conversation was u. a. the Oracle Park of the San Francisco Giants from Major League Baseball (MLB).

Since the beginning of June 2019, the Coliseum has borne the name of RingCentral , a provider of cloud computing .
