Rest gently! is a German television crime thriller by Manfred Stelzer from 2007. It was created as the 659th episode in the crime series Tatort and is the eleventh case with Axel Prahl and Jan Josef Liefers as Münster investigators Thiel and Boerne.

action

At Boerne's place of work, a corpse was pulled out of the cold room of the cold room and a lily was placed on her stomach. Nothing is missing in the cooling and dissecting room, so Boerne dismisses the incident as less important. The incident costs Thiel at the end of his vacation in Dakar , as it delays the departure to the airport with his father Thiel's taxi, which in turn breaks down on the open road. By chance, Boerne recognizes the Hönninger brothers' hearse, who are taking Thiel and Boerne to the airport, but Thiel arrives too late. Boerne in turn takes Professor Dr. Christine Arnold from Salzburg welcomed us, who will be a guest at a congress of the International Association of Forensic Studies, whose President Boerne would like to be elected. Since he made his apartment available to Christine because he was allowed to use it in Thiel's absence, Boerne and Thiel now necessarily share Thiel's apartment for a few days.

Shortly after the disastrous start of the holiday, Thiel was called to a case: The older of the Hönninger brothers was found dead in the funeral home. Apparently he had surprised the ominous corpse photographer; in addition to a few blows in the face, he was also fatally hit on the back of the head with a candlestick. Shortly before his death, Hönninger had met the orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michael Wulfes is on the phone, but he just wanted to discuss the flower arrangement. Thiel also gets to know his daughter Lucie at Wulfes, who is currently going through a Gothic phase, which Thiel initially mistakenly interprets as the veneration of St. Paul due to the skulls .

Nadeshda finds the site The Beauty of the Dead on the Internet , where the site operator uploads photos of the dead covered with flowers. Thiel and Boerne visit a group of Goths in a cemetery in Münster and ask about the site operator, who promptly escapes. Boerne was able to secure his backpack and camera, and in fact the investigators found pictures of corpses decorated with flowers on it. Among the photos is a picture of the dead woman Wulfes, which was only brought to the funeral home on the day of the crime. The photographer, whom the police identified as Alexander Stoll who had not been reported, must have been at the scene around the time of the crime. Since Lucie was among the Goths in the cemetery, Thiel secretly follows her after a questioning and she leads him to Alexander Stoll. He claims to have taken the photos, but to have fled the window when Hönninger arrived. He heard a man coming who was drunk. The investigators know that Hönninger's brother Frank had an argument with his brother on the evening of the crime and then got drunk in frustration. Frank states that he had an argument with his brother because he had assumed that the body slipped off the table while preparing it. However, Frank claims that it was a "transport damage"; nevertheless, his brother wanted to have the corpse examined again. The fatal blow to the back of the head was done with the left hand and Frank is left-handed. Nevertheless, Thiel doubts Frank's perpetration, as 20 minutes passed between the blows in the face, which were part of the dispute between the brothers, and the violent blow to the back of the head. Another person could just as easily have killed Hönninger.

In the middle of the evening discussions between the investigators, a tenant Boerne bursts in with water dripping from the ceiling. Thiel breaks into Boernes Bad and finds Christine Arnold there, who has cut her wrists. She survived her suicide attempt. Thiel's father reports that he saw her with Lucie in a café. Christine was a friend of Lucie's mother, who died years ago in an attack in Africa. The trip at that time was based on Christine's initiative and Christine is still blaming herself. Lucie wanted to know what the background was like back then. Michael Wulfes meets Thiel and Lucie and when asked, admits that he also met Christine because he knows her from before. Lucie bursts into tears and it becomes clear that Michael and Christine have been very familiar companions for a long time. Coincidentally, Christine also issued the forensic medical report on the death of Michael's second wife, who died a few days ago. Although the woman suffered from severe asthma, the emergency doctor could not give a clear cause of death. Thiel now suspects that the death of the second woman was by no means natural, and gets Boerne to agree to a new autopsy. However, both investigators are late. The coffin is burned immediately after the funeral and public prosecutor Wilhelmine Klemm prevents them both from storming the funeral to confiscate the coffin.

Shortly before the end of the presidential election, Boerne is kidnapped by masked figures at the congress. The men turn out to be goths who take him to the cemetery. Here lies the body of Lucie's stepmother. Lucie suspected that her father was involved in criminal activities and secretly removed the body from the coffin. Boerne is supposed to investigate the dead, but has no way in the cemetery. Suddenly Michael appears and threatens the Goths and his daughter, whom he wants to admit to psychiatry. Thiel can arrest Michael. He doesn't testify, but Christine confessed to having drawn up a false forensic medical report. She knew immediately that Michael was responsible for Hönninger's death, because he wanted to have the body examined again. When Lucie began to draw conclusions from all the incidents, Christine wanted to kill herself. The case is solved. Boerne is elected president of the association and Thiel has a special gift for him: he handcuffs him and kidnaps him on the motorcycle sidecar to the beautiful Münster area, as he has canceled his flight to Dakar several times due to the numerous events around Boerne have to.
