Tekes ( Kazakh تەكەس اۋدانى, Tekes Awdanı ) is a district in the Kazakh Ili Autonomous District of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China . The district lies on the Tekes He river of the same name . Tekes has an area of ​​8079.67 km² and about 170,000 inhabitants (2008).

Administrative structure
