Tekes ( Kazakh تەكەس اۋدانى, Tekes Awdanı ) is a district in the Kazakh Ili Autonomous District of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China . The district lies on the Tekes He river of the same name . Tekes has an area of 8079.67 km² and about 170,000 inhabitants (2008).
Administrative structure
At the community level, Tekes consists of one large community , five communities and two nationality communities . These are:
- Greater community Tekes (特克斯镇), seat of the district government;
- Community Karadala (喀拉达拉乡);
- Community carat Okay (喀拉托海乡);
- Community Koksu (阔克苏乡);
- Qilozek municipality (齐勒乌泽克 乡);
- Qolakterak parish (乔拉克 铁 热 克 乡);
- Community Hujirt (呼吉尔特蒙古族乡);
- Kokterak municipality (阔 克 铁 热 克 柯尔克孜 族 乡).
- There is also a state forest in the district, a VBA military horse breeding station with pasture areas and a farm for the production and construction corps.
