Mongol Kure or Zhaosu ( Kazakh موڭعۇلكۇرە اۋدانى Moñğulküre Awdanı ) is a district of the Kazakh Ili Autonomous Districtin the northwest of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Regionin the People's Republic of China . It has an area of 10,464.9 square kilometers and has 155,997 inhabitants (2003). Its main town is the large community of Zhaosu (昭苏 镇).
The Shengyou Temple of Zhaosu County (Zhaosu Shengyou miao昭苏圣佑庙), a Mongolian lamasery, and the plaque commemorating the conquest of the Khanate of Zungars (Pingding Zhunga'er Leming at平定准噶尔勒铭碑), which in 1761 in the Qianlong -Era of the Qing Dynasty , have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China since 2001 .

At the community level, the district consists of one large community and nine communities (including three nationality communities: two of the Mongols and one of the Kyrgyz ).
