Temritz , Upper Sorbian , is a village in East Saxony and has been part of the city of Bautzen since 1999 . It has 67 inhabitants and has been a separate district since 2007. Temritz belongs to the official Sorbian settlement area in Saxony.
geography
Temritz is about 4 km northwest of the city center at 215 m above sea level. NN at the Temritzer water , which is dammed here to a pond. It's a street village ; at the eastern end of the village there is a manor.
history
The place was first mentioned as Allodium Tymericz in 1225 . Temritz was an independent municipality until 1936 before it was incorporated into Kleinwelka . In 1950 it moved to the Salzenforst community (later Salzenforst-Bolbritz), and in 1994 it moved back to Kleinwelka. In 1999 Temritz was incorporated into Bautzen.
Population and language
For his statistics on the Sorbian population in Upper Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined a population of 84 in the 1880s, including 83 Sorbs and only one German. Since then, the use of Sorbian in Temritz has decreased significantly.
Personalities
The two Sorbian priests Měrćin and Jurij Šiman, who founded the Wendish seminary in Prague , came from Temritz. The Sorbian folk musician Mikławš Kral (1791 – after 1812) was born in Temritz.
