Thuringian Ministry for Education, Youth and Sport

The Thuringian Ministry for Education, Youth and Sport (TMBJS) is the Ministry of Culture and thus one of the nine ministries of the Free State of Thuringia . It was founded in 1990 and is based at Werner-Seelenbinder-Strasse 7, in the vicinity of most of the other state ministries on the southern outskirts of Erfurt . Helmut Holter has been Minister since December 5, 2014, with an interruption from February 5 to March 3, 2020 .

history

The forerunner of the ministry was the "Ministry for National Education and Justice" in Thuringia between 1920 and 1952. After the re-establishment of the state in 1990, the ministry was also re-established. In 1999 Thuringia's Ministry of Culture and Science were merged to form the "Ministry of Education, Science and Culture". With the formation of the state government Ramelow I in 2014, the science area was transferred to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the culture area to the Thuringian State Chancellery . The areas of "youth" and "sport" were added by the Ministry of Social Affairs . It has had its current name ever since.

Departments

The ministry is divided into four departments:

  • Dept. 1: Central Department:
  • Dept. 2: School supervision, adult education
  • Dept. 3: School Development
  • Section 4: Youth, Sport, State Youth Welfare Office

Subordinate authorities are the state school authorities in Gera , Gotha , Weimar , Leinefelde-Worbis and Suhl , the Thuringian State Office for Monument Preservation and Archeology and the Thuringian Institute for Teacher Training, Curriculum Development and Media .
