Thomas Frankenbach

Thomas Frankenbach (born January 10, 1973 in Wiesbaden ) is a German health scientist , exercise trainer and author .

Life and career

Frankenbach initially trained as a nurse at the St. Vincenz Hospital in Limburg an der Lahn and then studied nutritional sciences at the Fulda University of Applied Sciences as well as psychosocial, integrative and complementary health sciences at the Graz Interuniversity College . This was followed by training in nutritional counseling (professional association Oecotrophologie VDOE), relaxation and stress management procedures as well as psychotherapy (integrative gestalt therapy ).

In 1988 , Frankenbach started karate and is a 2nd Dan in open-minded karate, 2nd Dan in kickboxing , 1st Dan in Shōtōkan karate as well as an instructor for self-defense . He was on national and international podium placements in various martial arts associations. At the WKC (World Karate and Kickboxing Council) world championship in 2012 in Cádiz , Spain , he reached the quarter-finals as karateka .

From 1996 Frankenbach initially worked as a fitness trainer and seminar leader for stress management as well as nutrition and exercise topics at sports schools , private educational academies and vocational schools . The first corresponding contributions for trade and general- interest magazines followed in the course of a study-related internship in the editorial team of the Fit for Fun magazine in Hamburg 2000 .

Since 2004 is Frankenbach member of the International Association for Community Health food (IgFÜR) carried by the tegut - Board was founded Georg Sedlmaier. There he works at regular intervals as a consultant for bio-psycho-social health topics.

Frankenbach's work is characterized by the combination of depth psychological perspectives with aspects of movement theory , physical well-being and physical performance. In his book Why runners are persistent and surfers enjoy life - what your sport reveals about you (2012), he deals with the deep psychological aspects behind the motivation , sports to drive. Against this background, in Frankenbach's view, the examination of individual motives for doing sport can also be used to promote self-reflection . His explanations are based on the depth psychological thought models of Sigmund Freud , Carl Gustav Jung and Michael Balint as well as on aspects of psychosomatics and sport-specific body language .

In his book Somatic Intelligence (2014) Frankenbach deals with the ability of the organism to use signals such as appetite, aversion and digestibility to indicate a person's individual nutritional needs. Based on his nutritional and gestalt therapeutic background, he presents an exercise program in the same work to promote the perception of these body impulses.
