Tobias Topic (born March 23, 1992 ), known as Topic , is a German musician and producer from Solingen .

biography

Topic became known as the producer of the German YouTube musicians Kayef and Liont , in whose chart albums Relicts Last Night and Löwenkind he played a major role. His first self-release, a house song titled Light It Up , reached over a million views on his YouTube channel in late 2014. In the summer of 2015 he finished his debut album Miles . It was released at the end of July and hit both the German and Austrian charts. At the end of the year he was able to enter the single charts in both countries with the song Home with Nico Santos as a singer. In April 2016 the song was also released in Australia, rose to number eleven in the local charts and was awarded a platinum record for 70,000 singles sold. In Germany, the single also achieved platinum status.

In July 2016, Topic released the follow-up single to Home . This is sung by the Dutch singer Jake Reese , who gained fame through the local edition of X-Factor and his collaboration with Hardwell on his songs Mad World and Run Wild . After just a week, the song advanced to the official single charts, but could not match the success of its predecessor. In 2016 Topic received a nomination at the MTV Europe Music Awards for Best German Act.

In 2017 he reached the official single charts of Germany and Austria with the song Break My Habits . The Swedish singer-songwriter Patrik Jean contributed the vocals.

On January 26, 2018, Topic released the song Perfect , which he recorded together with the American singer Fifth Harmony member Ally Brooke . The airplay success also received attention in the United States, in particular through an appearance by Brooke on the TV show Wild 'n Out . For the song they were nominated for the Teen Choice Award 2018 in the category "Electronic / Dance Song".

With the track Sólo contigo , which was created in collaboration with Juan Magán and Lena Meyer-Landrut , he released a Spanish-language single for the first time in spring 2018. This was followed by the song The Less I Know together with Alexander Tidebrink .

On December 19, 2019, Breaking Me was the sixth single in the calendar year. It is a collaboration with the Swedish singer A7S and the first chart success after almost two years. The single reached top 10 placements in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland. With Breaking Me Topic also reached the British single charts for the first time and his first number 1 position in the Portuguese charts. In the USA he dominated the dance charts for three weeks and even reached the official Billboard Hot 100 at number 95.

On March 13, 2020, Like I Love You, the second single colloboration with Nico Santos was released. In order to promote the song, a joint live appearance took place on the Sat.1 show Luke! The school and me on prime time . The single reached position 24 in the single charts and number 2 in the airplay charts in Germany .
