Trath
The place name Trath , also Tratt, Tratte, Trad, Tradt, Tradl, Tradels ; also as ending -trath, -trad, -tradt ; and the soft pronunciation of the Upper Palatinate dialect also means wire ; and bohemian Draha ; comes from tra (t) e, trade ' to step'. It is a feminine word, that is, Trath . The word denoted the land that can be entered (by cattle), i.e. fallow land, pasture, a trampled place, a fenced in pasture, an uncultivated field, wasteland, desolate inferior land. With the decline of the pasture economy, with population increase, with immigration of foreigners z. B. as a result of war and expulsion, this wasteland outside the village was settled and retained its name Trath or was given a name composed of Trath. It is characteristic that due to the late settlement, the Trath is sometimes not listed as a separate district by the municipality and sometimes it is shown on precise maps but not named. This is remarkable because the Trath is often quite far away from the village, has a certain number of inhabitants and houses, and is also equipped with signposts and entrance signs. Only in the church registers does it appear as a separate district with information on the number of houses, the number of Catholics and the distance from the main church. In contrast, even tiny hamlets and wastelands, some of which consist of only one house with a single inhabitant or are even uninhabited, are run by the communities as separate districts. When localities expanded and Trath, which was once outside the locality, was consequently located within the local limits, the memory of it was sometimes retained in the street names.
