Trevor Gillies began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League , in which he was active from 1996 to 1999 for the North Bay Centennials , Sarnia Sting and Oshawa Generals . In the following years, the winger was able to establish himself in the minor leagues American Hockey League and ECHL , but never played for a long time for a club until 2003. Between 2003 and 2005 Gillies played for one year each for the Springfield Falcons and the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL, and then for two years for their league rivals Portland Pirates . During this period he also made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , as well as seven appearances for his ex-club Augusta Lynx in the ECHL. After two seasons with the Albany River Rats in the American Hockey League, the Canadian first signed a contract with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers for the 2009/10 season and later in the season with their cooperation partner New York Islanders , for whom he prepared a goal in 14 games. The 2010/11 season began Gillies in the NHL team of the Islanders.
