1986 U-19 Asian Football Championship / qualification

The qualification for the U-19 soccer Asian Cup 1986 was held to determine the eight participants in the final round. The (at least) 22 teams entered were divided into eight regional groups. The games took place between May and August 1986.

Group 1

Group 1 was won by Saudi Arabia . Game results are not known.

Group 2

Group 2 played from August 1 to 6, 1986 in Baghdad ( Iraq ).

The outcome of the match between Kuwait and Oman is unknown. From the game between Bahrain and Kuwait we only know that Bahrain won and qualified because of the better goal difference.

Group 3

Group 3 was won by Qatar . Game results are not known.

Group 4

Group 4 was held in Colombo ( Sri Lanka ). The hosts were able to prevail against Afghanistan and the Maldives . Game results are not known. India was originally also divided into this group, but refused to compete due to the civil war there. India was placed in Group 5 instead .

Group 5

Group 5 played from August 3 to 7, 1986 in Quetta ( Pakistan ).
