course

J Line train at Broadway Junction station

The lines begin on Broad Street , run under Nassau Street north to the level of Williamsburg Bridge , then turn east and cross the East River with it . In Brooklyn follow J and Z on an elevated train the Broadway and Fulton Street before on Jamaica Avenue , the Jamaica Station reached in Queens.

Line J trains skip some stops during rush hour between Sutphin Boulevard and Myrtle Avenue, which are served by Line Z during this time. Between Myrtle Avenue and Marcy Avenue, line J runs in the morning without stopping, and in the afternoon without stopping. The Z line operates only during rush hour and does not serve the stations between Myrtle Avenue and Marcy Avenue. On the weekends, only line J runs, which then serves all stations.

vehicles

In October 2019, 20 trains were used on the two lines during the morning rush hour. The trains consisted of two four-part railcars from the R160 and R179 series . The subway cars date from the 2000s and 2010s. Siemens and Alstom built the R160 wagons, Bombardier the R179 wagons. All railcars have a drive with IGBT - inverter and AC induction motors .
