The U9 is a German U-boat of the Type 205 . The boat with the NATO -Kennung S 188 belonged to the Bundeswehr .

history

The building was carried out by the Kiel Howaldtswerke , the commissioning took place on April 11, 1967.

U 9 caused a stir in October 1983 when it collided with the British oil rig supplier Maersk Plotter southwest of the Kiel lighthouse . However, there was only minor property damage.

After being taken out of service on June 3, 1993, it can now be viewed in the Technikmuseum Speyer . The last in command was Christian Knop.
