Episcopal coat of arms

The coat of arms is divided four times by the cross bars. Field 1, the stylized red heart, is a reference to the priestly community - Jesus Caritas - of Charles de Foucauld . Field 2, a red crossbar on a golden background, is the coat of arms of the home diocese of Münster. Field 3, three silver tips on a red background - the Franconian rake - stands for the diocese of Würzburg. Field 4, the white and red shell on a red background, is the sign of the Camino , the pilgrimage.

His motto Gratia - Caritas - Communio ("Grace - Love - Community") is taken from the wish for blessings in Paul's second letter to the Corinthians ( 2 Cor 13:13  EU ).
