In the main round, each of the eight teams played a total of 14 games. The three best-placed teams in the main round qualified for Group A of the intermediate round, the top two of which contested the championship final. The teams in places 4 to 6 in the main round met in group B of the intermediate round. The first place in the intermediate round group B qualified for the game for 3rd place. The results from the main round between teams in the same intermediate round group were adopted. The last two in the main round then played for seventh place. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
