Urziceni [ ˈurzitʃenʲ ] ( German  Schinal , Hungarian Csanálos ) is a municipality in the Satu Mare district in Romania .

The place is also known under the Romanian outdated names Cenaloş , Cienaloş and Ceanaloş and the German name Schöntal .

Geographical location

The municipality of Urziceni is located in the historical Sathmar County in northwest Romania. The small border town of Urziceni is located at Drum național 1F on the border with Hungary .

Since 1880 the highest number of inhabitants in the area of ​​today's municipality was determined in 1956. The highest population of the Magyars (1,851) was registered in 1941, that of the Romanian Germans (1,594) in 1920, that of the Romanians in 1930 and that of the Roma (118) in 2011. In 1930, 25 residents identified themselves as Ukrainians .
