Uwe Kellner (rower)

Uwe Jörg Kellner (born March 17, 1966 in Jena ) is a former German rower . In 1992 he won the silver medal in the four-man team at the Olympic Games and received the silver laurel leaf with the team on June 23, 1993 .

Uwe Kellner rowed for SC Dynamo Berlin until 1990 and then for SC Berlin. In 1983 he was junior world champion in two with helmsman . In 1985, Kellner took fifth place at the World Rowing Championships with the GDR eighth . In 1989 and 1990 Uwe Kellner won the GDR championships in two without a helmsman together with Thomas Jung ; the two rowers also won the World Rowing Championships in 1989 in Bled and in 1990 in Tasmania.

In 1992, coach Bernd Landvoigt formed a four-man helmsman with rowers from three Berlin clubs and one Potsdam club. Karsten Finger , Thoralf Peters , Ralf Brudel and Uwe Kellner were driven by Hendrik Reiher , who had already become Olympic champion with the GDR four in 1988. The newly assembled four-man won the German championships in 1992. At the 1992 Olympic Games , the boat won the silver medal one second behind the Romanian four-man.
