Uwe Schaper

Uwe Schaper (* 1958 ) is a German historian and director of the Berlin State Archives .

Life

Schaper studied modern history , modern German literary history and sociology in Erlangen . In 1988 he received his doctorate under Rudolf Endres with a thesis on the Bavarian Ministerial Council Chairman Friedrich Krafft von Crailsheim . From 1994 he taught information science at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences . In addition, he worked at the Brandenburg State Main Archive in Potsdam and at the State Office for Archives and Public Libraries in the Brandenburg State Main Archive in Potsdam. Since 2005 he has been director of the Berlin State Archives . In 2007 he was appointed honorary professor at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences in the information sciences department.

2008/09 Schaper came into the media because he had the psychiatric files of the actor Klaus Kinski opened, whereupon the Kinski family sued him.

Schaper is deputy chairman of the Historical Commission in Berlin e. V. , which he headed from 2009 to 2013, and member of the historical advisory board of the Governing Mayor of Berlin .
