Valentin (Prague)
Valentin (Czech: Valíš ; † February 6, 1182 ) was Bishop of Prague .
Valentin, who came from Thuringia , was canon of the Strahov Premonstratensian Monastery . Because of his piety, Duchess Elisabeth, the wife of Duke Friedrich , became aware of him, and he became her court chaplain.
After the death of Bishop Friedrich I of Prague , Valentin was elected his successor with the support of the duke couple. The episcopal ordination was presumably carried out by the Mainz Metropolitan Christian I von Buch .
Valentin was considered charitable. During his short term in office, the resolutions of the Third Lateran Council had to be promulgated and their implementation monitored.
