Bernhard of Prague

Bernhard Kaplirz von Sulewicz († 1240 at the latest) was Bishop of Prague .

Life

Its origin and year of birth are not known. From 1226 he was scholaster and chancellor of the Prague cathedral chapter . After the death of the Prague bishop Johann II von Dražice , Bernhard was elected as his successor on September 10, 1236 and confirmed on May 10, 1237 by the Archbishop of Mainz, Siegfried von Eppstein , to whose church province Prague belonged. The episcopal ordination took place on May 10, 1237 in Erfurt by Siegfried von Eppstein, assisted by the bishops Ekkehard von Merseburg and Wilhelm von Havelberg as well as the former, resigned Prague bishop Pilgrim .

Little is known about Bernhard's short episcopate . After his death he was buried in St. Vitus Cathedral.
