Veľké Rovné (until 1927 in Slovak "Rovné"; in Hungarian Nagyróna - until 1907 Rovne ) is a municipality in north-western Slovakia .

It is located in the Javorníky Mountains, in the valley of the Rovnianka brook , on the main road II / 541 about 9 km from Bytča .
In addition to the main town, Dolinky , Madzín , Potoky , Ráztoky , Soľné and Žarnov are part of the 11 km long community .
history
Founded as a Wallachian settlement on the site of the two former villages Rimanovice (first mentioned in 1408) and Kriváč (first mentioned in 1437), it was first mentioned in 1540.
