Maršová-Rašov is a municipality in northwestern Slovakia with 989 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Bytča , part of Žilinský kraj .
geography
The community is located in the Bytčianska kotlina basin within the larger Považské podolie valley , between the Waag to the west and the Súľovské vrchy mountains to the east of the built-up area. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 310 m nm and is seven and a half kilometers from Bytča and ten kilometers from Považská Bystrica .
Neighboring municipalities are Predmier in the north and northeast, Súľov-Hradná in the east, Plevník-Drienové in the south and Bytča (districts Benov and Mikšová ) in the west and north-west.
history
In today's municipality there was a settlement of the Puchau culture towards the beginning of our era , in the 8th century a Slavic settlement. In the Middle Ages, three independent places (Maršová, Rašov and Urbanov) developed, which were united in 1898.
The main town Maršová was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1400 as Marsowafalwa and was then part of the territory of the Waagburg , later the goods were divided between several families, with the Maršovský family keeping the majority. In 1598 the village had 12 houses, in 1828 there were 20 houses and 139 inhabitants, whose main source of income was agriculture. Historical names are Marsofalva (1462), Marsowa (1477), Marsy (1488), Marsova (1773).
Rašov was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1439 as Rasov and, like Maršová, was part of the territory of the Waagburg. In 1598 the village had 21 houses, in 1828 there were 63 houses and 363 inhabitants. Historical names are Rassow (1458), Rassowa (1471), Rassow (1773) and finally Rassó (1808).
Urbanov was first mentioned in writing in 1269 as Urbano , the property was divided between the Hrabovský and Urbanovský families . In 1598 the village had four houses, in 1828 there were seven houses and 75 inhabitants. Historical names are Urbanow (1406), Wrbanowcz , Urbanfalva (1504), Beno-Urbanow (1773) and most recently Urbanó (1808).
The community, which was established in 1898, was first (officially Hungarian) Rassómarsófaluurbanó until it was named Marsófalva in 1907 . The municipality in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In 1924, 1958 and 1960 the place was hit by floodwaters. Since 1998 the municipality has had the official name Maršová-Rašov, until then it was only called Maršová , until 1927 also Maršovka .

According to the 2011 census, 814 people lived in Maršová-Rašov, including 799 Slovaks , 4 Czechs and one Pole . 10 residents gave no information on ethnicity .
745 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 18 residents to the Evangelical Church AB; one resident professed a different denomination. 23 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 27 residents has not been determined.
