Vera Michallek

Vera Michallek , née Vera Steiert , (born November 6, 1958 in Lindau (Bodensee) ) is a former German athlete .

In 1979 and 1980 the middle and long-distance runner was German indoor runner-up over 1500 meters , in 1980 and 1981 in the open air both national runner-up over 1500 and 3000 meters . In September 1981 she married the sports student Andreas Michallek (* 1954), from whom she was trained from then on.

In 1982 she was fourth at the European Athletics Indoor Championships over 3000 meters. The following year she was again German runner-up over 1500 meters. At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , she was eliminated over 3000 meters in the preliminary run, and at the European Indoor Championships she came again over the same distance in fourth place. In 1984 she became German runner-up over 3000 meters and won the German championships in the 25 km road race .

In 1986 she became German indoor champion and runner-up in the open air over 1500 meters. At the European Athletics Championships in 1986 , she was eliminated over 1500 meters in the preliminary run and was tenth over 3000 meters. At the end of the year she won the Bozen New Year's Eve run . In 1987 she defended her indoor title over 1500 meters, was fourth at the European Indoor Championships in Liévin over 3000 meters and was German cross-country champion on the short distance . At the World Championships in Rome , she was eliminated over 1500 meters in the preliminary run and was eleventh over 3000 meters. In autumn she won the Griesheim road race .

In 1988 she became German indoor champion over 3000 meters and won the silver medal over the same distance at the European Indoor Championships in Budapest . Both over 1500 and over 3000 meters she became German champion, but was eliminated over both distances at the Olympic Games in Seoul in the preliminary run.

In 1989 she became German indoor champion over 1500 and 3000 meters and was fourth over 3000 meters at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest . In 1990 she was German champion over 1500 meters for the second time and third in the Griesheim road race in 1993.

Vera Michallek first started for ASV Köln , from 1983 for SC Eintracht Hamm and from 1986 for LG Frankfurt . She is currently the athlete manager for around 30 athletes, including a. for Robert Harting , Verena Sailer , Tatjana Pinto , Shanice Craft and Betty Heidler .
