The Verkehrsgesellschaft Bäderkreis Calw mbH ( VGC for short ) is a transport association in the district of Calw in Baden-Württemberg . A total of 13 bus companies that operate bus routes in the district are involved in VGC , Deutsche Bahn AG (represented by its subsidiary DB ZugBus Regionalverkehr Alb-Bodensee , which operates the Nagoldtalbahn that runs through the district ). The VGC is thus a business association.

history

First, the four bus companies Rübenacker Reisen , Nagoldtal Reisen , Regionalbusverkehr Südwest and Schöttle & Söhne founded the Verkehrsgesellschaft Bäderkreis Calw ( VGC ) on December 3, 1992 , which initially only served the coordination and timetable coordination between the companies involved. It was not until March 17, 1998 (date of foundation) that this community was expanded into a transport association (with the participation of the remaining bus companies in the district). This newly created transport association finally introduced the district-wide community tariff that still exists today on June 1, 1998. Since then there has been a uniform tariff for local public transport in the district of Calw. This makes it possible to use all traffic connections within the district with a single ticket, even if you have to change trains when traveling between two or more companies. Which was not initially included in this transport association German Bahn AG which at that time in addition to the Nagold Valley Railway also still the leading also by the county Enztalbahn operation. The Enztalbahn was not integrated into the VGC until December 14, 2002, when the Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG) took over the management of this route from Deutsche Bahn AG . The AVG itself is still not involved in the VGC , although it recognizes the VGC tariff. On December 12, 2004, the Nagold Valley Railway was finally integrated into the collective tariff , so that the VGC also became a fully-fledged transport network that included all public transport within the tariff area.

Tariff area and structure

As a special feature, the villages of Bad Herrenalb (including the districts of Bernbach, Rotensol, Neusatz and Gaistal with Zieflensberg) and Dobel, despite being part of the Calw district, do not belong to the VGC , but to the neighboring Karlsruhe Transport Association (KVV). The background to this unusual exemption: at the time of VGC -Verbundgründung the KVV Founded in 1994 had around Bad Herrenalb already established an association tariff (which the the Albtalbahn tuned to Karlsruhe bus routes included in this subsection). However, there is a transitional tariff between the VGC home area and these two locations, the VGC tariff is only applicable for trips between Bad Herrenalb or Dobel and the rest of the district (or vice versa), but not for trips within the not to VGC belonging area around Bad Herrenalb and Dobel.

In addition, there are further transitional tariffs to the neighboring Pforzheim-Enzkreis transport association (the VGC tariff applies to Pforzheim , in return the VPE tariff applies to Bad Wildbad ) and to the Stuttgart transport and tariff association (VVS). With an area of 746.04 km² and a population of 150,995 (each district of Calw minus Bad Herrenalb and Dobel), the VGC is one of the smaller transport associations in Baden-Württemberg. Apart from the KVV, the VPE and the VVS, the area of the VGC also borders the areas of the Verkehrs -gemeinschaft Landkreis Freudenstadt and the Verkehrsverbund Neckar-Alb-Donau , but there are no regional collaborations with these two associations.

In the VGC, the RegioX card issued by the KVV is also valid. It is valid for one day next to the VGC in the transport associations of the KVV, VPE & VGF. The background for this card was the idea of being able to travel on all AVG trams with one ticket, even when transferring the network. This card is still valid on the entire AVG line S4 from Achern near Offenburg to Öhringen im Hohenlohekreis, as well as on the train route to Speyer to the cathedral.

The VGC is also a participant in the KONUS program . KONUS stands for free use of local public transport for overnight Black Forest vacationers. With the Konus guest card, holidaymakers in the Black Forest can travel to their destination, the starting point for the hike or ski tour, etc. free of charge. This guest card is financed through a flat fee of 30 cents per night.

The transport association is also part of the scope of the Stuttgart metropolitan ticket .

Oddities

Three tariffs apply to the Enz Valley Railway due to a tariff cooperation. Likewise on the Nagold Valley Railway to the Monbach-Neuhausen stop. The background to this is that the VPE and the VGC agreed on a tariff cooperation for the Enz Valley as a destination for the residents of Pforzheim. On the Nagold Valley Railway, the VGC tariff was only valid up to Unterreichenbach and that of the VPE until the last Pforzheim stop at Brötzingen until a tariff cooperation was established. In order to close the gap, an extension of the route to Pforzheim central station was agreed for all journeys with single tickets and day tickets from the VGC. In return, VPE passengers were allowed to travel to Monbach-Neuhausen with immediate effect. Since a few years later the KVV agreed a cooperation for the rail (KVV tickets are now valid in the entire VPE area also on the rail), the tickets are also valid on the Enztalbahn operated by the AVG and on the short section of the Nagoldtalbahn. The division of the zones from Monbach-Neuhausen to Pforzheim is special: When traveling with a VGC ticket, four zones are calculated. With the VPE, however, there are only three zones. If a KVV ticket were valid even without traffic breaking out in the direction of the KVV area, it would only be two zones.
