The tariff association Ortenau (abbreviated: TGO , marketing name: Die Ortenauinie ) is a transport association in the Baden-Württemberg district of Ortenau . The TGO is a so-called group of companies in the legal form of a GmbH , it consists of a total of nine different transport companies . In contrast to the so-called mixed associations or transport authority associations, no public transport authorities (e.g. district, federal state) are involved in the TGO .

history

The forerunners of the TGO were the first local tariff associations of various bus companies which were set up from 1987. On March 19, 1991, the district council in the Ortenau district voted unanimously for the establishment of a district-wide uniform tariff for all bus companies, for this purpose the BGB-Gesellschaft Tarifgemeinschaft Ortenau (the predecessor organization of today's association, also abbreviated TGO ) was founded on August 8, 1991 . As early as September 1, 1991, a district-wide uniform zone tariff was set up for all bus routes. On December 19, 1994 (establishment of an independent association company and establishment of an office), this predecessor was finally converted into today's Tarifverbund Ortenau GmbH (the abbreviation TGO , which was already established at that time , was retained). A few years later, the local rail passenger transport (SPNV) in the Ortenaukreis was also integrated into the TGO , since then it has been a fully-fledged transport association.

The TGO today

The 1,861 km² tariff area of the TGO primarily comprises the district itself (in which 451,240 residents live), but there are also cooperations (so-called transitional tariff areas ) with all neighboring transport associations (this is the Karlsruhe Transport Association (KVV) in the north) , the Verkehrs-Gemeinschaft Landkreis Freudenstadt (VGF) in the east, the Verkehrsverbund Rottweil (VVR) in the south-east and the Regio-Verkehrsverbund Freiburg (RVF) in the south). Particularly noteworthy is the international cooperation that has existed since 1998 with the French Eurométropole de Strasbourg (so-called EUROPASS day and monthly tickets); this cooperation is the world's first cross-border public transport community tariff.

The nine TGO transport companies operate a total of 60 lines, the route network with a total length of 1492 km is mainly served by buses (1,313 km share), only 179 km are rail lines.

The TGO is also a participant in the KONUS program . KONUS stands for free use of local public transport for overnight Black Forest vacationers. With the Konus guest card, holidaymakers in the Black Forest can travel to their destination, the starting point for the hike or ski tour, etc. free of charge. This guest card is financed through a flat fee of 30 cents per night.
