Veronika Hořejší (born March 29, 1987 in Jilemnice , Liberec Region ) is a Czech biathlete .

Veronika Hořejší is a student and lives in Jablonec nad Nisou . She started for the SKP Jappenx and is trained by Stanislav Řezáč . She began biathlon in 2000 and has been a member of the Czech national team since 2005. Hořejší made her international debut in 2004 as part of the junior women competitions of the Biathlon European Cup in Obertilliach . The first major event was the 2006 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Ufa , in which she took part in the junior women’s competitions. In the cross-country style , she took 21st place in the sprint and, in fourth place with Michaela Balatková , Petr Hradecký , and Pavel Suchánek, missed a medal against the representation of Belarus by just one second in the mixed relay. On roller skis , it was the 14th of the sprint. In both cross and roller skis, she did not take part in the pursuit races despite qualifying. The following year she took part again in the Summer Biathlon World Championships in Otepää . In the cross, she finished 12th in the sprint, five in the mass start and six in the mixed relay, on roller skis she was eighth in the sprint and seven in the pursuit. The first major event on snow was the 2008 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding , where the Czech was 17th in the individual, 24th in the sprint, 41st in the pursuit and eighth in relay with Veronika Zvařičová and Veronika Vítková . Shortly thereafter, she started at the competitions of the European Junior Championships in Nové Město na Moravě . Hořejší competed in her Czech homeland quite successfully. In the individual, she just missed a medal in fourth place against the Russian Irina Maximowa , was 20th in the sprint and improved to ninth place in the pursuit race that followed. In the relay race she won the silver medal behind the Russians on the side of Zvařičová and Vítková.

The change from junior to adult area took place in January 2008 during the fifth station of the Biathlon European Cup 2007/08 in Langdorf . First, Hořejší competed in the individual with the juniors and was 25th there, the following sprint she ran in the women and was 43. In Cesana San Sicario she won first points a little later as 18th of a sprint. The best result in this racing series so far is a ninth place, which she achieved in an individual in Osrblie in 2009 . In summer she won both races at the IBU Summer Cup 2009 at the start of the season in Bystřice pod Hostýnem, home with the sprint and the mass start. At the Summer Biathlon European Championships 2009 in Nové Město na Moravě, the first major event in the performance area in which Hořejší took part, she was 22nd of the sprint and 18th of the mass start. The following year in Osrblie the ranks were added eleven in the sprint and ten in the pursuit race.
