The Vestkysten ( Danish "West Coast") is a fisheries protection ship of the Danish fisheries authority Fiskeristyrelsen. The ship is owned by the Udenrigsministeriet (Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

history

The ship was the ship engineering company Knud E. Hansen in Helsingor designed and under the hull number 108 on the shipyard Marstal Stålskibsværft og Maskinfabrik in Marstal built for the then Fiskeriministeriet (Ministry of Fisheries). The construction contract was signed on December 11, 1985. The keel of the ship was laid on June 23, 1986, the launch on November 28, 1986. The ship was completed on May 26, 1987.

The ship is expected to be replaced by a new building in 2021.

description

The ship is primarily used in the North Sea , the Skagerrak and the Kattegat in the field of surveillance and control of fisheries . It is also available for relief operations and can be used as a tug .

The ship is powered by two MAN B & W - diesel engines of type 6L23 / 30D with a total of 1,620  kW power driven. The motors act on a controllable pitch propeller via reduction gears . The ship is equipped with a bow and a stern thruster.

One of the main engines and two generators driven by Scania diesel engines are available to generate electricity . An emergency generator powered by a Valmet diesel engine was also installed.

The superstructures are located in the middle of the ship. A crane for moving loads is located in front of the superstructure. An open working deck is located behind the superstructure.

Three crews are available for the operation of the ship, each of whom is on board for ten days.
