Viktória Wagner-Gyürkés (born October 15, 1992 as Viktória Gyürkés ) is a Hungarian middle-distance and obstacle runner .

Athletic career

Viktória Wagner-Gyürkés gained her first international experience in 2007 when she was eliminated in the first round of the Youth World Championships in Ostrava in the 800-meter run with 2: 15.64 minutes. Two years later she finished eighth at the World Youth Championships in Bressanone in 2: 12.60 minutes and then reached fifth place at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Tampere in 2: 10.07 minutes. In 2010 she retired from the Junior World Championships in Moncton in the 1500 meter run with 4: 23.51 minutes in advance and in 2015 she took part as a student at Semmelweis University in the Summer Universiade in Gwangju , South Korea , where she finished in 10:17 , 46 min tenth place in the obstacle course.

In 2016 she qualified in the obstacle course for the European Championships in Amsterdam , where she did not reach the final in 9: 59.08 min. The following year she took part in the World Championships in London for the first time and was eliminated there with 9: 37.06 minutes in advance . Then she won the silver medal behind the Turkish Tuğba Güvenç at the Student World Games in Taipei in 9: 52.17 minutes . In 2018 she reached the final at the European Championships in Berlin , where she came in 13th after 9: 40.41 minutes. The following year she started at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow in the 3000 meter run , where she finished ninth in 9: 03.56 minutes. At the end of September she again took part in the World Championships in Doha , where she was eliminated in the preliminary round with 9: 52.11 minutes .

From 2008 to 2010, Wagner-Gyürkés was Hungarian champion in the 800-meter run and in 2017 and 2020 over 1500 meters. She won the obstacle course in 2014 and from 2016 to 2018. She also won the 5000-meter run in 2016 and 2020 . In the hall she won over 800 meters in 2009 and 2010, 2014, 2019 and 2020 as well as in 2010 and 2011 and from 2018 to 2020 also over 1500 meters.
