Career

Vincent Riendeau began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian junior league QMJHL , in which he was active between 1983 and 1986 for the Junior de Verdun and Voltigeurs de Drummondville . He was then committed by the Canadiens de Montréal from the National Hockey League , for which the goalkeeper was in a game between the posts in the 1987/88 season. The rest of the time from 1986 to 1988 he spent with Montréals farm team , the Canadiens de Sherbrooke , in the American Hockey League . From 1988 to 1991 he played for the St. Louis Blues in the NHL. In October 1991 he signed a contract with their league rivals Detroit Red Wings , for which he played in the following three seasons as well as for their AHL farm team, the Adirondack Red Wings . From spring 1994 to summer 1995 he was finally for the Boston Bruins in the NHL, as well as in a playoff game for their AHL farm team Providence Bruins on the ice.

For the 1995/96 season Riendeau went to Europe for the first time, where he was obliged by SC Riessersee from the German Ice Hockey League . After he bridged the 1996/97 season with the Manitoba Moose in the International Hockey League , he returned to the DEL for the following season , where he conceded 3:04 goals against in 14 games for the Revierlöwen Oberhausen . Later in the season he moved to HC Lugano from the Swiss National League A , but was only used once. This was followed by a year each with the Ayr Scottish Eagles from the Ice Hockey Superleague , the HK Lada Tolyatti from the Russian Superleague and the Anchorage Aces from the West Coast Hockey League , before the Canadian ended his active career in 2001 at the age of 35.

In the 2004/05 season, the former NHL goalie worked as a goalkeeping coach for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the QMJHL. Previously, he was in an advisory capacity with the Toronto Maple Leafs from the NHL, responsible for goalkeeping questions. He was also active in the same position for Adler Mannheim (2005–2007), Friborg-Gottéron and Kassel Huskies (2008–2009). For the 2010/11 season he was signed by the Hamburg Freezers as goalkeeping coach.
