Vladislav Kavan

Vladislav Kavan (born June 30, 1924 in Baška , Czechoslovakia , † July 3, 2003 in Bozen ) was a Czech painter.

Life

Kavan's father worked as a machine operator in a factory of the Witkowitz iron works . He started his school career in the interwar period . It was only after 1945 that he was offered the prospect of an academic education. He moved to Prague, where he attended the State School of Graphics in 1945/46 and thus acquired the prerequisites for further studies. The following year he began studying at the University of Applied Sciences in Prague, which was elevated to academic rank in 1946. Kavan studied in the textile design department. In 1951 he completed his studies. Due to the progressive totalitarian penetration of the country, Kavan traveled with his family to Italy on August 28, 1968 and ended up after a stopover in Trento and Neumarkt (South Tyrol) near Bolzano , where he lived until his death.

In 1958, Kavan received a Grand Prix at EXPO 58 , Brussels , class B.
