The Volksbank Alzey-Worms eG is a cooperative bank based in Worms in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is the oldest Volksbank in Rheinhessen. The business area is limited in the east by the Rhine and the state border and extends from Mainz in the north over the district of Alzey-Worms to Kirchheimbolanden in the north of the Palatinate in the west and the independent city of Worms in the south.
Volksbank Alzey-Worms feels connected to the principles of self-help, self-responsibility and self-administration of the cooperative forefathers Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch and Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen .
history
The history of Volksbank Alzey goes back to 1926. As part of the cooperative movement in the 19th century, the bank was founded on April 1, 1926 by Alzeyer merchants. The 73 founding members at the time had grown to almost 34,000 members by the time it merged with Volksbank Worms-Wonnegau.
Volksbank Alzey merged with Volksbank Kirchheimbolanden in 1970, with Spar- und Kreditbank Gau-Odernheim in 1993, with Volksbank Wörrstadt in 1998, with Raiffeisenbank Donnersberg in 2007 and with Volksbank Rhein-Selz in 2008. It recently had around 80,000 customers.
The history of the Wormser Volksbank, on the other hand, can be traced back to the founding of the Worms "advance payment and credit association" on December 29, 1860. After several mergers to form Volksbank Worms-Wonnegau, Volksbank Rheindürkheim joined in 2009.
On May 30, 2012, the meeting of representatives of Volksbank Worms-Wonnegau eG decided to merge with Alzey, followed by the meeting of representatives of Volksbank Alzey on June 20, 2012. The "Volksbank Alzey-Worms eG" was created through the merger.
In 2014 Volksbank Alzey-Worms eG merged with VR-Bank Mainz eG , which has since continued as the VR-Bank Mainz branch.
The Volksbank Alzey-Worms Foundation supports the Elisabeth Langgässer Literature Prize .
