The 2001 Volleyball World Grand Prix season was the ninth edition of the competition. It started on August 3rd and ended on August 26th. The USA won the title for the second time.

Eight teams competed in the preliminary round. In the first three weeks, two tournaments with four teams took place in parallel. In the final round, the eight teams were divided into two groups, each of which played “everyone against everyone”. There were matches 1–8, 2–7, 3–6 and 4–5 on the first matchday. The group third and fourth played against each other from places five to eight and the first two teams in each group met in the semi-finals.

The German team came eighth and played with: Christina Benecke , Andrea Berg , Béatrice Dömeland , Angelina Grün , Ulrike Jurk , Anja Krause , Jana Müller , Anja-Nadin Pietrek , Kathy Radzuweit , Sylvia Roll , Judith Sylvester and Birgit Thumm . The coach was Lee Hee-wan .
