from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Western Canada Hockey League (abbreviated WCHL ) was a Canadian Hockey - Minor League , which consisted solely in the season 1932/33. The only WCHL winner was the Calgary Tigers . An ice hockey league of the same name existed from 1921 to 1926.

history

The Western Canada Hockey League was founded in 1932 and, as a minor league, was supposed to continue the tradition of the ice hockey league of the same name , which served as the major league from 1921 to 1926. The new WCHL consisted exclusively of teams that had already played in the previous WCHL. The Regina Capitals even ended the 1932/33 season as the Vancouver Maroons in Vancouver , British Columbia , a name also used by a former team from the old WCHL. After the league failed after only a year, the Calgary Tigers and the Edmonton Eskimos moved to the newly formed North West Hockey League .
