The Wachenheimer Bach , also called Burgtalbach on the lower course , is a 10 km long brook in Rhineland-Palatinate , which has its source in the Palatinate Forest and flows into the Stechgraben from the left in the Upper Palatinate . It flows along its entire length in the Bad Dürkheim district .
The more common name derives from the country town of Wachenheim on the wine route through which the stream flows; Burgtal is a middle name for the Wachenheimer Tal and refers to the Wachtenburg , which lies on the right above the valley.
geography
course
The stream rises in a valley at 317 m above sea level. NHN in the Haardt , the eastern edge of the Palatinate Forest , a good 1 km west of the Vorderen Langenberg ( 545 m ). The source is on the forest area of the city of Wachenheim. Along the Kreisstraße 16, the stream flows northeast through the Wachenheim valley and after 6 km it emerges from the low mountain range into the Rhine plain through the rupture zone of the Upper Rhine Graben . After crossing the residential area of Wachenheim - partially piped underground - in an easterly direction, it changes its course for 1 km to the southeast. He crosses under the federal road 271 to the east, before he reaches the field markings of the local community of Forst . There it bends west for 250 m, crosses under the B 271 again and then accompanies it 500 m to the south. Immediately west of the B 271, it joins the Stechgraben from the left at a height of 109 m .
Tributaries
The tributaries of the Wachenheimer Bach are all short. Even in the forest it takes, for example, from left the water of Aybach- and tap fountain , which just a few meters from the stream are removed and later from the right thief Bach , which given its small length of 200 m and Diebsbächel is called.
Reservoirs
In the valley just before the brook breaks into the plain, there is a reservoir about 80 m long and 30 m wide . An approximately 150 m long and up to 70 m wide rainwater retention basin immediately east of the residential development in Wachenheim absorbs heavy precipitation .
