Election to the Swedish parliament in 1932
The election for the Second Chamber of the Swedish Reichstag (sv: Andrakammarvalet i Sverige 1932) took place on September 17 and 18, 1932. It was a time when the effects of the Great Depression also affected Sweden. In 1931 five striking workers were shot dead by the military during a tumult . The prime ministers at that time were Carl Gustaf Ekman and Felix Hamrin .
Two National Socialist parties ran for election. The Swedish National Socialist Party viewed the Jews as an undesirable "race" regardless of their religion. The equally anti-Jewish Ecclesiastical People's Party , however, had no objection to Jews who had converted to Christianity.
The Social Democrats managed to win the election with the nationalist term Volksheim . From this later the Swedish welfare state developed .
