Election to the Swedish Parliament in 1968
The election to the Second Chamber of the Swedish Reichstag took place on September 15, 1968 . It was the last election before the introduction of the unicameral system .
For the first time since 1940 , the Social Democrats regained an absolute majority . The Social Democratic Prime Minister Tage Erlander was able to continue his office without having to rely on toleration, for example from the communists .
The Centerpartiet rose for the first time to become the second strongest party. The Communist Left Party was only able to win three seats.
