Wallenstein is a district of the municipality Knüllwald in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse ( Germany ).

Geographical location

Wallenstein lies in the Knüllgebirge on the Efze . Of the village lies west of the inflow at the Lochbach hole gorge . The federal motorway 7 runs north-east of the village , through the state road  3154.

The village is first mentioned in writing in a document from 1232.

Incorporation

On December 31, 1971, Wallenstein was merged with eight other communities to form the new community Knüllwald.

Attractions

Near the village is the eponymous castle ruin Wallenstein , built in the 12th century and destroyed in 1637 .
