Wayne Eliot Knight (born August 7, 1955 in Cartersville , Georgia ) is an American actor .

Life and accomplishments

Knight briefly studied acting at the University of Georgia . He made his debut in a minor supporting role in the drama The Wanderers - Terror in the Bronx (1979). In the comedy The Sex O'Clock News (1984) he already took on one of the bigger roles. In the British series Assaulted Nuts from 1985 he played a few roles alongside Emma Thompson . From 1992 to 1998 he played the postman Newman in 45 episodes of the sitcom Seinfeld , for which role he was nominated for the 1998 Viewers for Quality Television Award .

In the thriller Basic Instinct (1992) with Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone , Knight played the role of the overweight prosecutor John Correli . He played the renegade programmer Dennis Nedry in Steven Spielberg's 1993 adventure film Jurassic Park . For this role he was nominated for the Saturn Award in 1994. In the years 1997 to 2001 he appeared in the television series Hinterm Mond immediately on the left , for this role he was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award in 1998 and 1999 . His voice could be heard from 2005 to 2007 in the cartoon series Katzenkratz .

In 2008 he starred in the role of Linus 'Microchip' Lieberman in the movie Punisher: War Zone . Since 2011 Knight has played the lead role of the divorced Haskell Lutz in the television series The Exes . In the meantime, the actor, who was often cast as a scoundrel or an overweight idiot, lost weight considerably, which did not necessarily give him an advantage in terms of health, but in terms of the choice of roles and the associated presence of his characters.

Knight was married to makeup expert Paula Sutor from 1996 to 2003 . He has been married to film editor Clare de Chenu for the second time since October 2006, and the marriage resulted in a son.
