action

The wealthy couple Brad and Caroline Sexton live in New York City . Brad Sexton, a real estate entrepreneur, was betrayed by his financial advisor Bob Lachman and was subsequently prosecuted by the IRS . After a failed celebration of their wedding anniversary, the couple got into an argument and wanted to separate, but had to flee from tax investigators. After an accident with their getaway car, the two hide in an Amish community , believing that as New Yorkers they would be able to adapt.

Brad and Caroline pose as local relatives and participate in community life. After initial arguments, the love that binds the couple is strengthened after a few talks with the parishioners. Caroline advocates that the local residents are allowed to wear colorful clothes. She organizes a fashion show, the council of elders approves colored dresses. Brad, on the other hand, is thrilled with his fieldwork success.

The police are increasingly looking for a bugged phone call among the Amish . While Caroline is helping a woman organize a wedding, Brad and Caroline are arrested.

During the trial, the Sextons' lawyer appears with the news that Lachman has been arrested in Zurich. The proceedings are discontinued and the sextons, who decided to divorce at the beginning of the film, are a happy couple again.
