history

The Weißbacher Church seen from the south

The Wispacher Flure is mentioned for the first time in 1452 , in 1486 the names Weisebach and Weispach are documented and can be interpreted as a place on a bright, white brook. The former manor next to the church already existed before 1375. In the Middle Ages, the manorial rights were first with the Lords of Waldenburg on Selva and from 1551 on with the von Einsiedel from Scharfenstein .
During the Thirty Years War , a large part of the village and the manor fell victim to fires. Only important farm buildings, including a sheep farm, a malt house, a barn and a brick factory, were rebuilt.
During the Saxon peasant uprising in 1790, the Weißbach farmers and the farmers of the towns of Dittersdorf, Kemtau , Einsiedel , Erfenschlag and Reichenhain , who belonged to the Weißbach with Dittersdof rule from 1696, rebelled against their servants. In 1673 Weißbach became an independent parish , until then it was a branch church of Gelenau. In 1782 the medieval church was expanded into a rectangular gallery hall with a hipped roof and turret . The pulpit altar also dates from this time. The baptismal font , a work from the beginning of the 17th century, with four children's figures on the foot was taken from the previous building . The parish also owns painted altar wings from the beginning of the 16th century as well as several late Gothic , carved figures. Until the political change, Weißbach was known for its stocking products, which had a tradition of over 200 years. As early as 1701, the first villager engaged in linen weaving. Around 1780, home weaving and knitting were already widespread, in 1842 a stocking knitting guild was created. In 1782 a school building was built. On June 18, 1891 the voluntary fire brigade Amtsberg was founded. From 1907 onwards, Weißbach was supplied with electrical energy by the Dittersdorf municipal utility. In 1910 a new school building was built. From 1925 to 1933 the municipal water pipeline was built and by 1927 a gas pipeline from the Zschopau gas works was relocated to Hauptstrasse. In the GDR, a state- owned stocking factory was established with around 200 employees, around 20 percent of whom were home workers. In addition, the “VEB Electrical Assemblies” existed with around 100 employees. From 1978 to 1980 a water pipe was built in the lower part of the village.

On January 1, 1994, the municipality of Amtsberg was newly formed from the previously independent municipalities of Schlößchen, Weißbach and Dittersdorf.

In 1998/1999 sewer pipes were laid and a container sewage treatment plant was built. In 1998 construction began on the Eichelberg residential area, and in 2005 the new federal road 180 was laid between the B 174 intersection and the Weißbach entrance.
