history

At the time of the German eastward expansion, Erfenschlag was founded as a Waldhufendorf . In 1402 the place was first mentioned in connection with the "Erfenslegere Strasse" . Further mentions took place in 1439 (as "Erfferslag" ) and 1486 (as "Erfferslagk"). The name means something like "clearing settlement of a person named Erphari". As early as the 13th century the rule Einsiedel was Erfenschlag lehnspflichtig . In 1446 the place was still under the care of Schellenberg , around 40 years later the place came to the office of Wolkenstein . Erfenschlag has been parish to Einsiedel since 1539. In 1832 Erfenschlag moved to the Chemnitz Office , then in 1856 to the Chemnitz Court Office. In 1874 the village belonged to the administrative authority of Chemnitz . On July 1, 1950, Erfenschlag was incorporated into Chemnitz.

One of the first Saxon spinning mills was built here as early as 1808. It was from Chemnitz trading Schnabel & Co. founded. This spinning mill was badly damaged in the Second World War, after which it was demolished in 1959.

Erfenschlag was parish in Einsiedel as early as 1539 and does not have its own church. In 2000 the sister parish " Einsiedel - Reichenhain with Erfenschlag and Berbisdorf " was formed.
