The Markersdorf district is in the south of Chemnitz . The districts of Helbersdorf , Altchemnitz , Harthau , Klaffenbach , Hutholz and Morgenleite border Markersdorf . Originally the districts of Hutholz and Morgenleite also belonged to the Markersdorfer Flur, so Markersdorf also extended beyond Stollberger Straße to the district of Stelzendorf and the community of Neukirchen .
The new prefabricated buildings in building areas III, IV and VII of the former " Fritz Heckert area " surround the old village center of Markersdorf. Likewise, the building area V in Morgenleite and the building area VIII in Hutholz. In the eastern part there is a part of the "city park", the Chemnitz river separates the district from Altchemnitz.
history
Markersdorf was a two-sided Waldhufendorf , which was first mentioned in 1331 as "Margkirsdorff" (= village of a Markwarts). Like all Chemnitz monastery villages, the office of Chemnitz came into being in 1548 . On July 1, 1919, the place was incorporated into Chemnitz and was parish to Neukirchen until 1925, then to Altchemnitz. The rural village location was preserved for a long time, but was developed from 1975 for the construction of the new prefabricated buildings of the "Fritz Heckert area".
Long before the “Heckert” was built, a number of residential areas were built in the outskirts of Markersdorf, such as the “Südrandsiedlung” (today the district of Stelzendorf), the “New Annex”, the “Morgenleite” and the “Am Harthwald” settlement.
Housing demolition
Markersdorf, together with Hutholz, is particularly affected by the dwindling population that began in the mid-1990s, which is why many of the 10–20 year old houses were mostly demolished or renovated.
traffic
Markersdorf is connected to the CVAG tram network with lines 4 and 5, which connect the district with the city center . The buses on lines 22, 36, 52 and N15 of the night network connect Markersdorf, Hutholz and Morgenleite with the other districts of Chemnitz.
In the north, the Südring forms the border with Helbersdorf. The Volgograd avenue is connecting the longest road markers village with Hutholz.
