Neefepark shopping center

Stelzendorf , located at the foot of the 419.6 m high Galgenberg , became a district of Chemnitz when Siegmar-Schönau was incorporated . The district to the west is now a residential suburb. The Stelzenbach flows through the village in a northerly direction and then flows into the Kappelbach. The district is bordered by Schönau , Kappel and Morgenleite and Hutholz as well as the community of Neukirchen / Erzgeb. In the north is the "Neefepark" shopping center, which opened in 1994.

history

Stelzendorf, founded by Thuringian farmers around 1150 in the course of the German colonization in the east, is considered to be one of the oldest monastery villages between the Kappelbach and the Zwönitz . In the interest register of the Chemnitz Benedictine monastery it is mentioned for the first time in 1168 as "Stelcindorf" (1518 "Steltzendorff" = village of a Stelcin, locator of the Reich Ministerial Heinrich von Wartha ). The Waldhufendorf was after the dissolution of the Chemnitz Benedictine office Village , then in 1662 came to the rule of the barons of dove in Neukirchen and was among them manor village. After Neukirchen the place was parish until 1925, but its own chapel was only inaugurated on July 24, 1954. Since 1839 a rural community, Stelzendorf was incorporated into Siegmar on January 1st, 1920 and to Chemnitz on July 1st, 1950.

Jagdschänkenbad

The largest and most modern summer pool in the town of Siegmar-Schönau was built near the old “Jagdschänke” in 1936 from a bathing pond that had been in use since the 1920s. It was extensively renovated from 1968 to 1972, but closed in 1991. While the closed summer pools in Altchemnitz , Grüna and at the Zeisigwald were leveled, the swimming pool, which is now overgrown by bushes, can still be seen.

The “Jagdschänke” inn itself was built in 1845/46. Before that, there was a “hunting lodge” in the same place as it was originally in the forest. The pub was closed in 1958 and the building, initially used as a storage room, was demolished in 1980.

Luther oak

The Luther oak was planted on the occasion of the 400th birthday of the reformer Martin Luther by the innkeeper August Wägner on November 10th, 1883 near the shaft grater at today's Lutheran oak height. Since the Galgenberg was still partially wooded with oaks until 1860, the oak was chosen as a symbol.

traffic

Stelzendorf is largely bounded in the north by the B 173 ( Neefestrasse ), in the south by the B 169 (Stollberger Strasse) and in the west by the A 72 .

The CVAG buses take lines 23, 26, 43 and 93 to Stelzendorf.
