Weidenwang is a district of the Upper Palatinate town of Berching . The church village is located on today's Main-Danube Canal . The parish church of St. Willibald is located in the village and is now supplied by Pollanten .
history
The first church was consecrated between 1057 and 1075 by the Eichstätter Bishop Gundekar II . In 1282 there was a Reichsministerialenburg in the village , which was handed over to Gerhardus von Weidenwang. In 1318, Hyltpolden von dem Stein bought half of the castle for the Seligenporten monastery from Chunrat the Loter. A new rectory was built from 1663 to 1682. In 1760 the construction of today's church began . Their consecration took place on May 14, 1763. In 1832 today's rectory was built. In 1835, 32 houses burned down in a fire disaster. In 1870 the volunteer fire brigade was founded .
In 1933 Weidenwang had 202 inhabitants and in 1939 200 inhabitants. On July 1, 1972, Weidenwang was incorporated into Berching.
