The parish village of Plankstetten is part of the town of Berching in the Upper Palatinate .

geography

The parish village is located about four and a half kilometers south-southeast of Berching and is at an altitude of about 400  m above sea level. NHN .

Plankstetten Monastery

In the village is the Plankstetten monastery , a Benedictine abbey . The monastery belongs to the Bavarian Benedictine Congregation . The Benedictine monastery was founded in 1129. A Romanesque crypt still exists from the time it was founded .

history

Due to the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , the place became an independent rural community with the second municipal edict, to which the village of Eglasmühle also belonged. In the course of the municipal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , Plankstetten was incorporated into the city of Berching in 1978.

In July 2020, the Neumarkt – Beilngries –Kinding railway lines (connection to the rapid transit line) were included in the VDV's position paper as railway lines to be reactivated. This means that Plankstetten could also have its own rail connection again.
