Werner Bosch Orgelbau GmbH is a German organ building company based in Niestetal in the Kassel district in Hesse . It was founded in 1945 by Werner Bosch (1916–1992).

history

Werner Bosch completed his apprenticeship at M. Welte & Sons in Freiburg . His workshop for repairs to organs , founded shortly before the Second World War , soon became a company for building organs. After returning from captivity, Bosch began building organs in Kassel in 1945 and was able to complete his first organ just a year later. In 1947, however, he only passed his master's examination and in the same year founded the piano house in Kassel, which he managed until his death. He was inspired by famous organ builders of the 17th and 18th centuries who also worked on string instruments. He was also connected to the region in a musical tradition.

In 1954 he moved to Sandershausen , a district of Niestetal . Further moves followed. From 1957 to 1986 the piano house resided in the heart of the city of Kassel. Today the piano house is located on the Altmarkt in Kassel.

By 1999 the Bosch Orgelbau company had built over 900 organs. Historical organs are also being restored. Bosch works mainly in Germany, Japan and Korea, but also in Switzerland, Scandinavia and the USA. Werner Bosch's sons Wolfgang and Michael died in 2007 and 2012, so that his grandson Martin is now running the business in the third generation.
