Werner Wied (born August 28, 1917 in Erndtebrück ; † June 26, 2011 in Kreuztal ) was a German educator and an important local researcher for Wittgenstein .

Live and act

Werner Wied was born on August 28, 1917 in Erndtebrück as the son of the locomotive driver Heinrich Wied and his wife Luise born. Völkel born. After elementary school in Erndtebrück, he attended the advanced high school in Hilchenbach , where he passed the Abitur in March 1936. After two years of study in Weilburg , he made his first teacher examination and was then employed in elementary school in the Rhineland, a. a. used in Duisburg . When the war broke out, he was drafted into military service. After the war ended, his job took him to Bad Mergentheim . From 1947 Wied moved to Erndtebrück and taught first in Weidenhausen , then, after passing the second teacher examination, in the Benfe elementary school . Through further courses he acquired the qualification for teaching at secondary and secondary schools and in autumn 1952 became a secondary school teacher in Neustadt am Rübenberge in Lower Saxony; From 1961 he moved to the municipal secondary school in Kreuztal for another 20 years until his retirement.

Wied's particular weakness was the regional history of Wittgenstein, for which he made a significant contribution to Wittgenstein's school history as early as 1938 with his thesis at the college for teacher training in Weilburg. This work was published by him in 1992. His source study and his in-depth knowledge of the content of the two princely archives in Bad Laasphe and Bad Berleburg enabled him to publish a large number of contributions from the regional, social, economic and church history of Wittgenstein and to contribute to them. A number of village books in the Wittgenstein region identify him as the initiator, author and editor.

From 1963 to 1990 he was the second editor and member of the board of the Wittgensteiner Heimatverein and jointly responsible for the publication of the Wittgenstein periodicals . In addition, Wied was active on the extended board of the Siegerland homeland and history association from 1971 to 1980, and was the official liaison between the two associations.

Werner Wied died on June 26, 2011 at the age of 93.

Werner Wied married Margot Dangelmaier in Bad Mergentheim in 1945. The marriage resulted in two sons and a daughter.
