Viktor Wassiljewitsch Schluktow ( Russian Виктор Васильевич Жлуктов ; born January 29, 1954 in Inta , Russian SFSR ) is a former Soviet - Russian ice hockey player .

Career

Viktor Schluktov's father was a miner, his mother was a saleswoman. Schluktow began playing ice hockey at his father's mine before moving to Moscow at the age of 17 to study at the Moscow State Aviation Institute . Due to the proximity to the training center of CSKA Moscow , he began to play ice hockey in the CSKA youth team and made his first appearances for the CSKA men's team in the Vysschaya League in the 1972/73 season . He left the Aviation Institute and joined the Soviet Army. He later graduated from the Military Academy of Physical Culture, but remained without a college degree.

In the following years he won the Soviet championship ten times, the European Ice Hockey Cup ten times and the Soviet Cup competition twice .

In the 1982 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the 7th round in 143rd place by the Minnesota North Stars , but never played in North America.

In total, he scored 198 goals in 456 games in the Soviet league before he had to end his career in 1985 due to his health.

International

On November 11, 1975 he was in a game against Czechoslovakia for the first time for the Soviet national team on the ice. His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1976 Winter Olympics .

At the 1980 Winter Olympics , he and his team won the silver medal at the legendary Miracle on Ice .

In 1978 he was named the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR .

As a supervisor and functionary

After retiring, he worked as a head coach for ice hockey in the Soviet Army.

Between 1996 and 2001 he worked as a team supervisor at ZSKA, and in 1998 he was also elected vice-president of the club. Between 2001 and 2002 he was President of the CSKA.
