Wilhelm Johannes Friedrich Carl Freiherr von Nordeck zur Rabenau (born August 5, 1798 Neustadt (Hesse) ; † April 10, 1862 Dieburg ) was a German forester and at times a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in Darmstadt.

Parents and family

He came from the noble family of Nordeck zur Rabenau and was the son of the Hessen-Kassel officer Hugo Leopold von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1755–1832) and his wife Therese Bassilia nee Freiin Huldenberghe van den Borsch. Nordeck zur Rabenau was Catholic.

His brother Friedrich Joseph Kilian Freiherr von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1793–1863), who was five years older than him, was a Hessian general and politician and member of the 1st and 2nd chambers of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in Darmstadt.

Life

Wilhelm was Solms-Braunfelsischer district forester and forester in Hungen and from 1853 forester in Umstadt. From 1838 to 1841 he was also a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Land estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in Darmstadt.

Marriage and offspring

As a 40-year-old he married on May 20, 1838 in Ober-Mörlen the 13 years younger, 27-year-old Charlotte Freiin Wetzel called von Carben , (born October 14, 1811 in Ober-Mörlen; † November 21, 1888 in Dieburg), daughter of Johann Freiherr von Wetzel called von Carben auf Ober-Mörlen and Sophie Freiin von Syberg zu Sümmern. Through this marriage he came into possession of the Ober-Mörlen estate along with Ober-Mörlen Castle in the Wetterau , about 45 km north of the city of Frankfurt am Main. Her descendants included u. a .:

  • Viktor Freiherr von Nordeck zur Rabenau (born August 21, 1839; † January 13, 1911) married his older cousin Karoline von Nordeck zur Rabenau, a daughter of Friedrich Joseph Kilian Freiherr von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1793–1863). Between 1870 and 1890 he also owned the two-storey, classicist house with a protruding hipped roof in Gießen, Frankfurter Strasse 52, which still exists today. He was addicted to gambling and gambled away his fortune in casinos. So he had to part with his inheritance piece by piece, Ober-Mörlen Castle (sold in 1895), Stammheim Castle (district of Florstadt, sold 1891), Seltersberg near Gießen (sold), co-lord of Mittelburg Rabenau (sold) and in the end lived more or less tolerated for sublet in Schloss Ober-Mörlen. The gravesite of the married couple Victor and Karoline von Nordeck zur Rabenau are still located in the cemetery of Ober-Mörlen.
    • Ferdinand Freiherr von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1865–1921), eldest son, Hessian police district commissioner in Offenbach (Main). Three other, younger brothers died in the First World War . They were all unmarried and childless. At the age of 47, he married 18-year-old Johannette Jörg, daughter of the large gardener Daniel Jörg from Frankfurt-Oberrad. Her only child Gabriele Maria Anna Karoline Charlotte Susanna Freiin von Nordeck zur Rabenau (born August 11, 1913 in Offenbach; † October 12, 1999 in Dieburg) became a midwife and married Josef Böhm (1913-NN). The couple had a son and a daughter. With the death of Gabriele Böhm, born Freiin von Nordeck zur Rabenau, this line of names of the noble family von Nordeck zur Rabenau ended .
    • Friedrich Freiherr von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1868–1924) died overnight as a result of a serious riding accident.

    • Maria Freiin von Nordeck zur Rabenau (* 1890 in Dieburg; † 1988), married from 1918 to Adolph Anton von Gemmingen (1886–1963), Herr zu Fränkisch-Crumbach, Grand Ducal Hessian court junior, from 1929 to 1933 district director in Bingen and from 1945 until 1946 district administrator in Darmstadt .
  • Anna Freiin von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1843–1920), married to Hugo Freiherr von Fechenbach-Laudenbach (1837–1892). The couple lived in Fechenbach Castle in Dieburg . Both found their final resting place in the old cemetery there. Anna was the great aunt and godmother of Gabriele Maria Anna Karoline Charlotte Susanna Freiin von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1913–1999).
